A family doctor is concerned with the general health needs of people of all ages. Focusing on the primary care of you and your family, he or she can refer you to a specialist or community resources when appropriate.
Some women choose an obstetrician/gynecologist as a main health care provider. OB/GYNs are doctors who specialize in the care of the female reproductive system, including pregnancy and childbirth.
Your bones and muscles form the framework of your body. An orthopedic surgeon is a doctor who uses medical, surgical and physical means to preserve and restore this framework.
Psychologists help individuals and families work through emotional difficulties through talk therapy. They also evaluate mental health through special assessments.
Meet your doctor
Jennifer Auge, MD talks about the neighborhood feel to the Blaine clinic, while still having access to Allina's excellent multi-specialty system of provider.
Dr. Jennifer Auge: I started with Allina when I was a resident. I trained at St. John's, and then I started here shortly after my training ended and I've been at the Coon Rapids Clinic for five years.
I'm board certified in family practice. I see everything from birth to the elderly and then a variety of problems within that. I really enjoy preventative care. It's probably one of my passions, as well as fitness and nutrition.
I like the variety of being a family practice provider. From day to day, you never know what might walk in your door, which is great. I really enjoy getting to know my patients not just as patients but as people. And being able to take care of generations of people has really been a blessing and quite a lot of fun, too.
The Blaine clinic is a primary care based clinic. We will have some OB/GYN presence in our clinic from Fridley OB to address some of our OB concerns as well as prenatal care. But the three of us here, Dr. Mark Scheible, Kate Martin, who's a nurse practitioner, and myself are all family practice trained.
It will be a very small clinic and we hope it will provide a very nice, family-oriented, neighborhood type clinic. More one-on-one patient attention as far as knowing the staff since it will be a smaller clinic, and the patient will be able to recognize the receptionist. The nurses should all be recognizable a well. So it should be a very comfortable setting for people to seek attention which I'm very excited for.
I think a small clinic has a lot of advantage for the patient just because it is smaller, but yet they have access to a huge multi-specialty system of provider that is excellent. I feel that it fits quite well in that kind of setting and gives people a little bit different niche if that's what they're seeking from a small clinic to a large clinic.
